Are you driven and ambitious, but looking for something more and thinking that maybe you need a coach or a mentor? Whether you’re craving clarity on what your dream career by design looks like, want to finally move that great business idea off the backburner and into reality, or want to get that next promotion but not sure what else you need to do (or perhaps you’re doing wrong), let me show you how you CAN rewrite the rules …
Claire is an accomplished mentor & coach who works with private clients and corporate teams to empower them to move their career, personal and leadership dreams into an active, actionable, pursuit.
Why do I need a coach?
No matter who you are, we all have 24 hours in each day. No more and no less. If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got. To change something, you must take action. If you feel like you’re not living up to your potential, focus on changing a few key aspects of your life.
Having proven local and international success with 7 x World Surfing Champion Layne Beachley’s Aim for the Stars Foundation, the Property Council’s 100 Women in Property initiative, GROWL (The Global Rise of Women in Legal Tech), the University of Notre Dame Australia Law School and the Association of Corporate Counsel, Claire understands the power of goal setting and works with her clients to think openly and outside of the box.
She provides a confidential sounding board for ideas, analysis and assistance, geared towards her client’s personal and professional development. In recognition of her work, Claire was awarded Mentor of the Year in 2017 by the Women Lawyers Association, as well as having lead executive teams and multiple individuals who themselves have been recognised through awards in both local and international markets.
Armed with a toolbox jam packed with resources designed to help her clients, a journey with Claire as your coach & mentor may include exploring areas such as your values in action (based on the VIA Classification of Character Strengths and Virtues (Peterson & Seligman, 2004), a psychology classification of positive traits in human beings, that has been taken over 7 million times globally), and career clustering (based on the ground breaking work of Dr John Holland, one of the most influential psychologists in the 20th century) and so much more!
What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?
Mentoring and coaching are different disciplines. The simplest way to distinguish between the two is to compare mentoring to “been there, done that, got the t-shirt.” Mentors have generally enjoyed a marked degree of success in their own career or area of expertise and as such, bring their personal expectations to the client’s experience. Coaching is instead not instructive. Coaches are not hired to inform clients, but to inspire them towards realising their own paths, with a future focus and direction that is exclusively forward looking.
Having guided many professionals during her career, Claire is acutely aware of how today’s roles are changing markedly and becoming more complex, to the extent that many of us are needing a champion “in our corner” but don’t know where or how to start. The thought of where to start for a client can be daunting – the people you know and admire may be generous, but they are probably not in a position to commit the time and resources you need. That’s when a professional mentor & coach who can work with you on your own personalised vision of success, your strengths, gaps and talents, can be an invaluable investment in your greatest asset – you – and assist you to find your voice and perhaps shift your thinking so as to realise the pathway to your goals.
As an experienced mentor and coach, Claire is effective at helping individuals’ access and utilise her extensive knowledge, training and experience to develop new ways of working and being. Different stages of our careers require distinctive guidance and lifelong learning is a part of modern culture. Having a mentor or a coach should be a transformative experience for you as a leader and a person, so selecting the right person for your journey is very important.
What will I learn from being coached or mentored by Claire?
Mentoring and coaching are both unique and highly confidential relationships. It involves working within the personal and private property of a client’s thoughts, their personal hopes and their dreams. Working together, Claire’s goal is to empower you and enrich your life on a personal and professional level. With thought provoking questions, the use of an established leadership testing tool and through goal setting, you can work with Claire to:
Build your leadership skills – Claire can help you to develop your ability through her experience, motivation and encouragement, so as to help you become a better leader, manager, employee, and team member. Together you’ll identify the skills and expertise you need to succeed;
Learn new perspectives – Claire can help you to gain a fresh perspective on things and learn a new way of thinking – which can help in your work life as well as your personal life. Claire will be your guide and “sounding board” for ideas, helping you decide on the best course of action in difficult situations. You will learn from her ways to work more effectively and avoid “reinventing the wheel;”
Work out what sort of leader you are and how to advance your career – Claire can help you to refine your leadership skills to strengthen your on-the-job performance and perhaps get ready for that promotion or new role;
Advance your career – Claire can help contribute to your growth and development and ultimately succeed in seeing you be the type of manager you wish you’d had in your early career;
Build your network – Claire can help you to work out how to expand your existing network of personal and professional contacts.
